Bucs Drop Two on the Road

The Beloit College women's tennis team lost a pair of matches on the road Saturday.

The Buccaneers visited Jacksonville, Illinois Saturday morning to take on Illinois College. The Lady Blues topped Beloit 9-0 in the match. Emma Hahn and Hayden Lamphere teamed up for the toughest match at number two doubles narrowly falling to IC's team of :Madelyn Deardorff and Kalisa Goertz 8-6.

In singles play, Makayla Jo Zundel took her opponent to three sets at number five singles and Jamie Kelly's number six singles match also went to a third. Lamphere nearly came back to send her number three singles match into a third set but fell in the tie break.

Following the match in Jacksonville, the Bucs headed back out on the road to Monmouth, Illinois for a match against the Fighting Scots in the afternoon. Monmouth picked up a 6-3 win over Beloit in the contest.

Two of Beloit's wins came in doubles competition. The combination of Kiri Youngquist and Priya Heinen bested Monmouth's Emma Johanns and Mckenzie DeVilder at number one doubles 8-5. At number two doubles, Hahn and Lamphere teamed up to top Rachael Leifheit and Alison Bowman 8-7 (7-4).

Heinen also picked up a win in singles play in the number two slot with a 6-4, 6-4 victory over DeVilder.
