BELOIT, WI — On Sunday, August 30th, the Beloit College athletic department officially ushered in the 2026-27 school year. The All-Athlete Kickoff brought together hundreds of student-athletes to celebrate the tradition of Buccaneer athletics and hear from a distinguished lineup of leaders and alumni.
The evening began with a welcome from Pat Miller, entering his second full year as Beloit's Athletic Director. Miller, a prominent figure in Wisconsin collegiate athletics, spoke to the gathered "Bucs" about the importance of building a championship culture that extends from the court to the classroom.
"It's important to get all of our student-athletes in one room to kick off the school year," Miller said. "Part of our job is to teach our new athletes and remind the older ones what it means to be a Beloit College student-athlete. This was a fantastic way to do that while also getting everyone excited about the year ahead."
Adding a student perspective to the night was Kim Pilon, President of the Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC). The event also featured deep ties to Beloit's history. Dave DeGeorge '89, the winningest coach in the history of Beloit athletics and former Athletic Director, returned to the podium to offer a perspective rooted in over three decades of service. Beside him was Bill Flanagan, 1889 Council member and longtime Dean of Students. Flanagan, spoke on behalf of the 1889 Council. The 1889 Council graciously purchased new shirts for all Beloit College Athletes.
The highlight of the evening was the keynote address by Lance Randall '94. Currently an assistant men's basketball coach for the University of Wisconsin Badgers, Randall returned to his Alma mater to share lessons from a coaching career that has spanned three decades and over 400 wins.
As the 2026-27 season begins, the atmosphere in Eaton Chapel made one thing clear: the Buccaneers are ready to build on their legacy of "purposeful consequence," aiming for success both on the field of play and in the community they call home.
