Beloit College

Coach Mrizek has been a part of the Buccaneer Coaching Staff since 2013.  

Serving as the pitching coach, Coach Mrizek’s tenure has produced 8 All-Conference Selections including one conference pitcher of the year.  In 2024, the Buccaneer Pitching Staff was ranked 6th in the nation in base on balls per nine innings (2.82), 21st in strikeout-to-walk ratio, and 49 in WHIP .   Since taking over the pitching staff, The Bucs have won 3 Conference Tournament titles, made 3 NCAA tournament appearances, won 2 Regular Season North Conference titles and 1 Overall Conference title and have qualified for the Midwest Conference Tournament 5 times.

Coach Mrizek is a 1999 Beloit College Graduate and was a pitcher and team captain during his time with the Bucs.  When he finished his collegiate career, he held the record for most appearances and saves in a season.  Coach Mrizek was awarded the Beloit College’s Athletic Department Joe Kobylka Award for Team Spirit and Sportsmanship.  

After graduating, Coach Mrizek was named the Head Baseball Coach at Rockford Auburn High School, where he became the all-time career leader in wins and led the Knights to their first Regional Championship in 22 years in 2008.  He then went on to spend 3 seasons at the helm of Rockford Guilford High School where he guided his team to 26 wins in 2010 for the 2nd most wins in school history.

Coach Mrizek was also the Head Junior American Legion coach for Janesville in 2000, leading his team to a second place finish in the state of Wisconsin.   

Originally from Brookfield, Illinois, Coach Mrizek played baseball at Lyons Township High School in LaGrange, IL under two Illinois High School Baseball Coaches Association Hall of Fame Coaches, Terry Sullivan and George Ushela.

Coach Mrizek ‘99 has a degree in History and Secondary Education and 2 Master’s Degrees in Education.  He resides in Beloit with his wife Brandi and his 3 children, Evie, Maggie, and Addison.
