The Beloit College men's soccer team battled but fell to Concordia University-Wisconsin 1-0 in Mequon Friday evening.
The Buccaneer defense stifled a strong Falcon offense that took 19 shots in the contest allowing only the lone goal. That goal would come less than 15 minutes into the game.
Beloit's keeper Alex Lyon saw his first action less than three minutes into the game as he registered the save on a header. A CUW shot at 14:38 was deflected by a Buccaneer defender in the box and found the back of the net giving the Falcons the 1-0 lead.
Ryan Aten gave Beloit their first opportunity as the first period drew to a close but his shot was thwarted by the CUW keeper.
The Bucs got the offense going in the second period with shots from Emmett Hendrickson and Deji Agunbiade to accompany a couple of corner kicks but Beloit was unable to tally the equalizer.
Lyon made six saves in the contest.
The Bucs return to Beloit for their home opener as they play host to Wisconsin Lutheran College Sunday at 3:30 p.m.
