The Beloit College women's soccer team rolled to a 6-0 shutout of Lawrence University in Beloit Saturday afternoon.
Period rain and a muddy pitch did not put a damper on the Buccaneer offense Saturday as Beloit tallied three goals in each half. The explosion of offense started early with a set piece off of a corner kick. Courtney Cuervorst served the ball in from the corner and Candace Cunningham went up for the header finding the back of the net for her fifth goal of the season just under four minutes into the contest.
The Buccaneer offense continued to pressure the Viking defense until they broke through for another goal. At the 22:53 mark, Hanna Metcalfe was able to beat the keeper for her first goal of the season. Just 11 minutes later, Raine Loewen-Thomas made good on an assist from Genesis Dade to give the Bucs a 3-0 advantage heading into halftime.
Beloit didn't let up in the second period with Cuervorst registering her second assist of the game finding Heather Metcalfe for a 4-0 Buc lead in the 51st minute. Just under five minutes later, Dade got in on the scoring action off an assist from Cunningham.
Aminah Crawford wrapped up the scoring for Beloit with a goal in the 70th minute. Cuervorst was credited with the assist, her third of the contest.
The Bucs recorded 28 shots in the game.
Connor Keegan-Lloyd and Kaitlyn Tomasin-Erickson split time in net for Beloit combining for three saves and the shutout.
The Bucs will have a day off before returning to the pitch at the Strong Complex to host Augustana in a non-conference matchup Monday at 4 p.m.
