The Beloit College men' basketball team fell to Monmouth College 80-58 on the road Saturday evening. The Buccaneers move to 5-10 overall and 3-5 in Midwest Conference play. The Scots improve to 6-9 overall and move to even, 4-4, against conference opponents.
The Bucs struggled offensively shooting 37-percent (19-52) from the floor, 30-percent (7-23) from three-point range and 62-percent (13-21) from the free throw line. The home team shot 53-percent (31-59) from the field, 27-percent (4-15) from long range and 78-percent (14-18) from the charity stripe.
Bucs' point guard Mylan Walters knocked down 50-percent of his shots including 4-8 from beyond the arc to lead Beloit with 18 points. Darin Empereur hit seven of eight opportunities from the charity stripe en route to a 15-point outing in his first game back from injury. Matthew Miller contributed 10 points on 5-8 from the field while Andrew Walters led the Bucs with seven rebounds and three assists.
The Bucs return to Flood Arena to host Ripon College Wednesday night. Tipoff is slated for 7:30 p.m.
