The Beloit College volleyball team lost a tight four-setter to Lake Forest College 3-1 (25-18, 17-25, 25-22, 25-17) Tuesday evening in Flood Arena.
The first set was a back-and-forth affair until the Foresters went on a 9-4 midset run to take a 19-14 lead. The teams traded points but the Buccaneers were unable to close the gap falling 25-18. The Bucs bounced back in set two jumping out to a 5-1 lead and then extending their advantage to five points multiple times during the set. Senior outside hitter
Amanda Baran bolstered the hot-hitting Beloit offense in the set with six kills on 16 attack attempts while committing just one error. As a team, the Bucs tallied 15 kills in 41 attempts and registered just two attack errors in the 25-17 set two win.
The Foresters held the lead for the beginning points of the set until the Bucs made a run to tie the set 11-11. Beloit eventually took a 17-14 lead before LFC ran off five straight points to regain the advantage 19-17. The Bucs stayed close knotting the set once more at 21 but the Foresters were able to tally four of the final five points to take a 2-1 lead in the match.
An 11-0 midset run for the Foresters gave LFC a 20-12 lead and put set four out of reach for the final.
Baran led all players with 16 kills on 53 attempts in the contest. She added 12 digs for the double-double. Fellow outside
Eva Laun-Smith also registered a double-double with 10 kills and 15 digs. Setter
Paige Wimbrow was credited with 33 assists in the match.

Courtnie Thomas led the Bucs' backcourt with 22 digs while libero
Jade Mosquera accumulated 20 in the match. Defensively at the net,
Aryssa Harris led Beloit with two solo and one assist block.
The Bucs will host Ripon Friday, October 25 in match three of their four-game homestand. The match is slated to start at 7 p.m. The final game home match of the season is scheduled for Sunday, October 27 at 1 p.m. as Beloit will recognize its senior class after hosting Monmouth College.
