Deji Agunbiade found the back of the net twice to lead Beloit College to a 2-1 win over Ripon College in Beloit Saturday afternoon. The Buccaneers' senior class including
Jason Venzke,
Danny O'Leary,
Griffin Engel,
Matt Alvero and
Casey Wagner were honored at halftime of the contest.
Agunbiade gave the great family day crowd a goal to celebrate in the 35th minute. The junior midfielder made a great run down the left wing and was able to squeeze a shot into the far post from a tight angle to put the Buccaneers up 1-0.
That lead held through intermission but Ripon had the equalizer in the second half with a goal in the 75th minute.
Determined to win in front of a great crowd and on senior day, Agunbiade captured his second goal of the game and third of the season in the 81st minute.
Drew Landoch set up the goal after Beloit College put together a good possession delivering a perfect cross to the back post where Agunbiade got on the end of it beating the keeper and tallying what wound up being the game-winner.
Beloit's offense outshot the Red Hawks registering ten shots on goal while the Bucs' defense held Ripon to just six on target in the contest. The Bucs also held a 5-3 advantage in corner kicks.
Clark Burch-Woodard and
Luis Rodriguez split time in goal for Beloit combining for five saves.
The Bucs wrap up the 2019 season at home against St. Norbert Collge Saturday, November 2. Kickoff is scheduled for 3:30 p.m.
