Turnovers proved costly for the Beloit College women's basketball team as they fell to Elmhurst College Sunday afternoon in the squad's final contest before the new year. The Bucs' 29 turnovers led to 34 Bluejay points in the 73-42 loss.
Beloit tallied a fantastic second quarter outscoring the host school 17-12 bolstered by 10 points from
Dani Strejc in the period. The second quarter comeback narrowed the gap to eight points, 31-23, at the half but Elmhurst pulled away in the final two quarters.
Strejc led the Bucs with ten points on 4-5 from the field and a perfect 2-2 from three-point range. She added three rebounds and two assists in the game.
Christy Melton led Beloit on the glass with nine rebounds adding two assists and six points in the contest.
The Bucs return to Midwest Conference play Friday, January 3 with a weekend on the road. Beloit kicks off the weekend at Cornell College at 7:30 Friday followed by a 3 p.m. meeting with the Scots at Monmouth College Saturday.
Beloit will not return to their home court until January 15 when they play host to St. Norbert. Tipoff for that mid-week contest is slated for 7:30 p.m.
