A big first quarter led the way to a fourth straight win for the Beloit College women's basketball team. The 65-56 victory over Cornell College on the road Saturday marks the final game of the season for the Buccaneers as Beloit finishes 2018-18 with an 8-17 record including a 7-11 mark in Midwest Conference play.
Similar to the last few games through this win streak, the Bucs started out on fire offensively. Beloit shot over 57-percent (8-14) from the floor, knocking down six of their nine shots from behind the three-point line and going a perfect 4-4 from the free throw line to open up a 26-15 lead after the first quarter.
Kline bolstered the offense in the first 10 minutes hitting 5-6 from the field and 4-5 from long range for 14 points in the stanza.
The Rams fought back winning the second and third quarter 15-14 and 14-10 respectively but the Bucs held on outscoring Cornell 15-12 in the final period to register the win.
Kline tied for game-high honors with 18 points, her tenth straight game in double figures. In 25 games played this season she has made her way into double digits scoring on 23 occasions. Hitting the 1,000 point milestone earlier this season, the senior guard has accumulated a career total of 1,197 points, ranked seventh on the program's all-time scorers' list.
Senior guard
Candace Cunningham notched another double-double, her fifteenth of the season, with 12 points and 11 rebounds. The league's leading rebounder hauled in 271 boards this season. Her 260 heading into Saturday's contest were 65 more than the player ranked second in the conference.
