The Beloit College men's lacrosse team opened up the season with an 18-4 loss at Carthage Thursday evening.
The Buccaneers fell behind 6-1 after the first period and were unable to come back from the deficit despite scoring in each quarter.
Andrei Prikhodko scored the first goal for the Bucs in 2019 finding the back of the net at the 9:33 mark to make it 2-1 Carthage. In the second,
Michael Boyland found the back of the net with a goal at 4:38.
Mark Gannon got on the board with a goal off an assist by
Steven Soli at the 7:26 mark in the third before Boyland struck again in the fourth giving Beloit its fourth goal of the game.
Boyland led the Bucs with two goals on four shots adding one groundball in the contest. Gannon got off six shots in the game finding the back of the net once and also tallying a groundball. Prikhodko added a team-high five groundballs.
David Kunczynski registered 16 saves in the complete 60 minutes in goal for the Bucs.
Up Next: The Bucs are scheduled to head to Dubuque to face the Spartans March 5 in a game that was rescheduled from February 20. Faceoff is slated for 5 p.m.
