The Beloit College softball team dropped a pair of games in Winter Haven, Florida falling to Washington College 7-1 and Wooster 2-0.
Washington College struck first using a sacrifice fly to plate the first run of the game in the bottom of the second. Beloit responded an inning-and-a-half later. Madi Christine led off the top of the fourth with a single to left field. The speedster swiped second and booked it home on Ashley Lambert's one-out single to centerfield to knot the game 1-1.
That scored held into the fifth when WC posted four runs on four hits to take a 5-1 lead in the game. They added two insurance runs in the bottom of the sixth for the final, 7-1.
Beloit tallied five hits in the game, all five from different batters. Alyssa Boltik suffered the loss on the mound.
Game two was a pitching battle. Maddy Pfortmiller, who had closed out game one for the Bucs returned to the circle to start the nightcap. She would go the distance allowing two runs while scattering seven hits over the seven inning contest.
Wooster hurler Olivia Johnson held the Buccaneer batters at bay allowing three hits in the complete game in the circle.
The lone runs in the contest came courtesy of the long ball. A two-run blast in the fourth gave Wooster the lead and eventual win.
Stephannie Lopez, Kaitlynn Taft and Dani Strejc each tallied a hit in the game.
On Deck: Beloit has a day off before returning to the diamond Thursday for a pair of games. The Bucs are scheduled to face The Sage Colleges and North Park University at 10 a.m. and 2:30 p.m. respectively in Leesburg.
