The Beloit College softball team dropped a doubleheader to Rockford University Thursday afternoon falling in the opener 11-1 and 12-5 in a five-inning nightcap.
The Buccaneers struggled to find their offense and push runners across leaving 14 on the basepaths in the twinbill.
Stephannie Lopez led the Bucs at the plate going 2-for-3 in the first game. Maty Nowakowski and Emily Stapay each registered two hits on the day for Beloit. Callie Dutton had the biggest hit of the day for either team with a blast that sailed over the left field fence despite a brisk wind blowing in Thursday.
Alyssa Boltik suffered the loss on the mound in game one striking out five in 5.1 innings of work. Morgan Lippert, who came in for relief in game one and started game two, took the loss in the nightcap.
The Bucs open Midwest Conference play Saturday hosting St. Norbert College for a doubleheader beginning at 1 p.m.
