The Beloit College softball team was swept by Wisconsin Lutheran College in a pair of games played at Mercyhealth Sportscore Two in Loves Park, Illinois Monday evening. The Buccaneers dropped game one 10-0 in a shortened, five inning contest, and were topped 4-0 in the nightcap.

The Warriors jumped out to a quick 4-0 lead after the first half inning as their bats were on fire in their first action of the season. WLC's defense, led by last season's Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference Pitcher of the Year, stymied the Bucs' offense allowing just two hits for Beloit in the opener.

Stephannie Lopez and Ashley Lambert each tallied a hit in the game to lead the Bucs at the plate. Emily Stapay suffered the loss on the mound to move to 0-1 this season.

Wisconsin Lutheran's stingy defense and pitching limited the Bucs once again in the nightcap. Beloit mustered two hits against the Warriors second ace with Lopez and Kat Grzeszkiewicz each posting a hit in the game.

Alyssa Boltik suffered the loss in game two allowing two runs on four hits while striking out three.

The Bucs' next contests will be in warmer weather. Beloit will compete in the NTC Spring Games in the Orlando area March 10 through the 15 playing 10 games during that span. The Bucs open play over the break in sunny Florida with games against Swarthmore and Carnegie Mellon Sunday, March 10.
