Game Recap: Women's Lacrosse |

Bucs’ Comeback Falls Short against Loras

The Beloit College women's lacrosse team nearly mounted a second half comeback against Loras College but fell to the Duhawks 14-11 Saturday night at Strong Stadium.

Facing a 9-5 deficit after the first half, the Buccaneers came out of the intermission with a fired up offense. Beloit scored six of the first nine goals of the second half to pull to within two, 12-10.

Fiona Milchman sparked the offense with a goal at the 24:56 mark. Nicole Dolcimascolo posted back-to-back goals just 30 seconds apart 10 minutes in to make it 11-7 before Milchman struck again to make it 11-8 with 15:32 on the clock.

A Duhawk goal pushed lead back to four but Kieran Rodning beat the Loras keeper at 12:48 and again with less than eight minutes to play to make it 12-10.

Loras responded in kind to push the lead back to four before Milchman capped the scoring with less than a minute to go for the 14-11 final.

Dolcimascolo and Milchman combined for nine goals, three assists and twelve points in the contests as each tallied seven shots on goal. Rodning posted a team-high five groundballs and five caused turnovers in addition to her two goals scored and an assist.

Alexa Arakelian made 13 saves in goal for the Bucs.

Beloit will wrap up family weekend with a 2 p.m. game against Wartburg College Sunday at Strong Stadium.
