Game Recap: Women's Soccer |

Bucs Extend Win Streak over Rockford Behind Erickson's Two Goals

The Beloit College women's soccer team exploded for a six-goal win over Rockford University Wednesday behind two goals from junior Kaitlyn Erickson. The Buccaneers have won four straight against the Regents over the last ten years scoring at least six goals in each contest.

It didn't take long for the Buc offense to get going but it was the defense that had to make the first stop. Audrey Ketterer thwarted Rockford's first shot on goal with a save in the first minute. Beloit opened the scoring in the fourth minute as Makenna Downing notched her first goal of the season.

Less than eight minutes later, Mikaila Davis found the back of the net off an assist from Morgan Goodyear registering her second goal of the season and giving the Bucs a 2-0 advantage. Quickly it was 3-0 as Raine Loewen-Thomas beat the Regent keeper just a minute later as Davis and Goodyear tallied assists on the goal.

Beloit wasn't done yet in the first half. Davis set up Midori Tanada for her first goal of the season in the 24th minute. The final tally of the opening period came in the 41st minute when Erickson made it 5-0 Beloit off an assist from Christy Melton

Erickson struck again in the second half with her sister Kayla Erickson and Goodyear assisting on the score. The Buc defense held the rest of the way to secure the 6-0 win.

The Buccaneer offense kept the pressure on the Regent defense with 28 shots including 14 on goal. Beloit's defense was just as efficient holding Rockford to just two shots including one on goal.

Next Up: The Bucs head to Pella, Iowa to face Central College Saturday for the team's last game before opening Midwest Conference play. Saturday's matchup is slated for a 3 p.m. start.
