A phenomenal shooting performance by Knox College led to a loss for the Beloit College men's basketball team Saturday. The Buccaneers fell to the Prairie Fire 81-68 on the road.
Knox was lights out shooting 62-percent (29-47) from the field, 57-percent (12-21) and 65-percent (11-17) from the free throw line in the game. The Bucs had the upperhand in rebounds, points off turnovers, and second chance points but could not make up for the gap created by the Prairie Fire's shooting efficiency.
Beloit shot 37-percent (22-59) from the floor, 26-percent (8-31) from long range, and 76-percent (16-21) from the charity stripe.
Tristan Shoup led the Bucs with 20 points including a 7-8 performance at the free throw line. He added seven rebounds and a blocked shot.
Michael Polakoski dropped in 19 points and
Mason Jones contributed 13 in the game. Point guard
Darin Empereur dished out five assists while
Andrew Walters led Beloit on the glass with eight rebounds.
The Bucs will wrap up the 2019-20 season on their home court hosting Grinnell College Tuesday at 5:30 followed by Cornell College Saturday at 1 p.m. Saturday's contest against the Rams has been designated senior day.
