Fiona Milchman scored six goals adding an assist for seven points to lead Beloit College to a 16-8 win over Benedictine Saturday afternoon in Strong Stadium.
It was a back-and-forth affair through the first 30 minutes of play with the teams trading small runs until Beloit scored three of the final four goals of the half to take a 7-5 lead into intermission. Four Bucs scored in the period with
Kieran Rodning and Milchman each netting two goals.
Rodning and Milchman struck early in the second to push the lead out to 9-5 before the Eagles halted the run with a goal at the 26:47 mark. From that point, the Bucs rattled off five in a row with five different players registering goals to extend their advantage to 14-6. Milchman opened the flurry followed by
Nicole Dolcimascolo,
Sy Dragon, Rodning and
Olivia Nasatir.
Following two Eagle goals, Milchman came back with her final two of the contest less than two minutes apart to put the final touches on an impressive outing. Both teams threatened but the keepers kept their opponents out of the scoring column for the final 11:39 of the contest.
Milchman led the Bucs with seven points followed by Rodning with six on five goals and an assist. Defensively, Dolcimascolo tallied five groundballs while three more Bucs added four each. Rodning and Dolcimascolo combined for 17 draw controls in the game.
Alexa Arakelian saved over 60-percent of the shots she faced turning away 13 of the Eagles' 21 shots on goal for the win in net.
