The Beloit College women's soccer team battled to a 1-1 draw at Monmouth College Saturday afternoon. The tie makes the race for the Midwest Conference Tournament incredibly tight heading into the final week of of the regular season.
With the top four in the league standings advancing to the tournament after the conclusion of regular season play, two spots have already been taken by regular season champion Knox and Lake Forest College. Four schools will now battle it out for the final two spots in the tournament. The Bucs will face Lawrence University, currently third in the league standings Tuesday before wrapping up the regular season at home against Cornell Saturday.
The Bucs and Fighting Scots had a number of offensive opportunities in the contest with Monmouth leading Beloit in shots on goal 6-3 while the Bucs held a 10-4 advantage in corners.
Monmouth opened the scoring with a goal just over a minute and a half before intermission. In the 66th minute,
Abigail Membrino made good on a pass from
Gracie Gasmann beating the Scots' keeper for the equalizer. That 1-1 score remained through two overtime periods.
