The Beloit College men's basketball team shot well but couldn't match the Sabres' offensive pace as Marian University drained 22 three-pointers in the Buccaneers' 102-67 loss on the road Monday night.
Marian shot lights out from downtown nailing triples at a 60-percent clip including 12-19 in the first half and 10-17 in the second. The Bucs were no slouches from beyond the arc hitting 9-15 in the second half but they couldn't match the offensive pace the Sabres were producing.
The Bucs shot 37-percent (23-62) from the floor while Marian dropped in buckets at a rate above 54-percent (38-70) in the contest. The Sabres' pace led to a 23-3 advantage in fast break points.
Brian Rusch led Beloit with 14 points bolstered by 4-5 from long range.
Mylan Walters was a perfect 2-2 from distance to join Rusch in double figures with 10.
Andrew Walters was active on both sides of the ball hauling in six rebounds and grabbing a pair of steals while dishing out a team-high six assists.
