The Beloit College women's basketball team cruised to an 83-34 win over Illinois Tech Tuesday evening in Flood Arena. It was a block party for the Buccaneers as
Hadja Bayo and
Cora Linos registered nine of the team's 11 blocks in the contest.
The Bucs jumped out to a quick lead and continued to extend their advantage throughout the game. Offensively, Beloit shot 50-percent knocking down 34-68 adding 11-16 from the free throw line. Defensively, the Bucs held the Scarlet Hawks to just 17-percent from the floor (10-60) while forcing 25 turnovers. Beloit's pace was a big advantage outscoring their opponent 19-2 in fast break points. The Bucs also took advantage in the paint outscoring Illinois Tech by 40 in the category.
Four Bucs posted double figures led by
Elizabeth Kalk with a game-high 17 bolstered by 7-8 from the charity stripe. She added a pair of steals in the game.
Hannah Welte dropped in 14. Linos and
Christy Melton were efficient combining for a 12-17 performance from the field for 12 points a piece. Linos added four blocks.
T'Aira Boyance led all players with 10 boards and four steals.
