The Beloit College football team fell to the top team in the Midwest Conference with an 84-3 loss at Lake Forest College Saturday afternoon.
Beloit captured the early lead in the contest putting up points on their first drive of the contest. The Foresters won the toss and elected to receive. The Buccaneers halted the LFC drive at Beloit's 44 forcing a turnover on downs with just under 12 minutes to go in the first half.
On the ensuing drive, quarterback
Jacob Shafer registered a 12-yard first down scamper before finding wide out
AJ Fitzpatrick for a 12-yard gain.
Silas Say got in on the first down action with a 16-yard jaunt down to the LFC 24. The Bucs' drive stalled there and on fourth and eight from the 22,
Rafael Cervantes Jr. took to the field for the field goal attempt.
Alex Alvarez grabbed the snap, put the ball town and spun the laces as Cervantes approached and split the uprights on the 39-yard field goal for a 3-0 Beloit lead.
The high-powered Lake Forest offense gained momentum from that point on posting points in each quarter.
Shafer was 3-11 with 24 yards and was also the team's top rusher with 25 yards on the ground. Fitzpatrick hauled in two passes from Shafer in the contest.
Defensively,
EK Davis led the Bucs with eight tackles while
Aiden Diehl tallied a tackle for a loss of three yards.
Gavin Thorpe,
