The Beloit College softball team dropped a pair of games on the road Sunday falling 7-2 and 10-2 to Lake Forest.
The Foresters were able to put a big inning together in each game leading to the finals. In game one, it was the second frame. Lake Forest plated five runs on four hits to take the early lead.
The Buccaneers responded in the top of the third with a two-out rally.
Briana Arteaga drew a walk and swiped second.
Kaitlynn Taft followed with a single to left field that brought in Arteaga to put Beloit on the board.
LFC added single runs in the next two innings before Beloit wrapped up the scoring in the top of the sixth.
Maddie Moser took advantage of a Foresters miscue reaching on an error.
Alyssa Morris followed with a double to left field and
Mackenzie Shawback registered the RBI on a groundout.
Isabel Johnson, Taft, Morris and
Cora Aubert all tallied hits for the Bucs in the first game as
Maddy Pfortmiller suffered the loss in the circle to move to 10-6 on the season.
Beloit's offense gave the Bucs an early lead to open the nightcap. Johnson ledoff the game with a walk but was out at second on a fielder's choice in the next at bat. An error by a Forester infielder had Taft and Arteaga safe at first and second.
Emily Stapay capitalized on the miscue with a single to right center that plated Arteaga and put runners on the corners. Morris hit into a fielder's choice but registered the RBI to give Beloit a 2-0 lead.
Lake Forest pulled to within one in the bottom half of the frame and that score held until LFC's big inning, this time it was the third. The Foresters claimed the lead with six runs on four hits to take a 7-2 advantage. A pair of scores in the fourth followed by a run in the fifth led to the shortened-game final.
Stapay was a perfect 2-2 at the plate with an RBI to lead the Buc offense. Aubert suffered the loss with a complete game in the circle to move to 5-5 this season.
