The Beloit College volleyball team recorded its second five-set victory in as many outings with a 3-2 win at Alverno in Milwaukee Friday evening. 

The Buccaneers were outhit but committed fewer errors using scrappy defense to extend points and force Inferno miscues. 

Alverno opened the match on fire offensively hitting .500 with 15 kills en route to the first set win. Both teams struggled with efficiency offensively in set two but the Bucs tallied three aces while committing fewer errors from the service line and added two blocks at the net to even the match 1-1. 

Beloit's offense started to ramp up as the Bucs hit .242 with 11 kills in 33 attempts for a set three win. The fourth set was the longest of the year for the Bucs. Beloit and Alverno combined for 150 attack attempts in the set with the Inferno ending up on top 29-27 forcing a decisive fifth set. 

The Bucs came back from an early deficit to hit .375 with nine kills in 16 attempts to take the fifth set and the match 3-2. 

Three Bucs registered double figure kills led by Isabel Conchillo Martinez who hammered down 15. Abbie Schmidt and Cora Linos combined for 35 assists in the contest. Katrina Sanchez posted her best match of the season defensively with a match-high 27 digs. 

Next Up: Beloit will host Saint Mary's (IN) and Alverno Saturday, September 4 for their 2021 home debut. Match times are scheduled for noon and 3 p.m. respectively.
