Game Recap: Men's Basketball |

Bucs Win Big Behind Ganiyu's 22

Azeez Ganiyu had a big game dropping 22 points to lead the Beloit College men's basketball to a hefty win over Monmouth College 78-60 Monday evening in Flood Arena.

Ganiyu battled in the paint making seven of his nine shots from the floor and adding an 8-10 performance from the charity stripe. He added four blocks including one that had the Beloit faithful in the crowd erupting.

The Buccaneers, a better second half team of late, used a huge first half to catapult themselves to the win. Beloit went into the intermission with a 39-26 advantage. They built up to their largest lead of the game, 23, by the end of the game. The Fighting Scots had a better second 20 but the Bucs still held the second half advantage outscoring Monmouth 39-34 for the win.

Beloit registered one of its best shooting outings of the season hitting 62-percent from the floor in the first half and over 50-percent in the second half. The Bucs also got it done from the free throw line hitting 14-18 and they nailed half of their threes in the game. Beloit's defense held the Fighting Scots to just 36-percent from the floor in the game.

Ganiyu's 22 led all players. Three Bucs joined Ganiyu in double figures including Mylan Walters and Brian Rusch with 14 each and Andrew Walters with 12. Andrew made it a double-double with 12 rebounds as he gets ever closer to breaking the school record for career boards. The Walters duo led all players with four assists a piece while Andrew added four steals.
