MOUNT VERNON, Iowa - Beloit's men's soccer team completed their 2022 season Saturday afternoon with a 3-2 loss at Cornell College. The Rams also narrowly won the shot advantage by an 18-16 margin.
Cornell (8-6-3, 3-3-2) scored the game's first goal just four minutes into the contest when George Archer netted his 11th goal of the season. Beloit (3-8-4, 2-2-4 MWC) would tie things up in the 40th minute when
Patrick Casola found the net on an assist from
Allan Hernandez.
Casola added a second goal in the opening minutes of the second half on an assist from
Emilio Mendoza, giving Beloit their first lead of the day. That lead lasted for 20 minutes until Archer scored his second goal of the game, this time on a Penalty Kick in the 72nd minute. Nine minutes later,
Aidan Lerch gave Cornell the lead for good on a goal in the 81st minute.
Teddy Bahu played the entire game at Goal Keeper for the Buccaneers, making five saves on the day. His counterpart, Will Bickel saved two shots, while also playing all 90 minutes.
