RIPON, Wis. - Beloit defeated Ripon in a thrilling five-set match Saturday afternoon in what was their final competition of the 2022 season. Ripon won the first set 25-23, before Beloit won the next two 25-14 and 25-23, respectively. Ripon tied the match with a 25-20 set four victory, but the Buccaneers would finish off the Red Hawks with a 16-14 win in the fifth and final frame. That gives Beloit a season-best three-match win streak to end the season and ties them for fifth place in the Midwest Conference standings.
Beloit (7-17, 3-5 MWC) was led by
Katrina Sanchez's 20 kills.
Jada Daniel added nine kills, to go along with team-highs of two service aces and two blocks.
Abbie Schmidt chipped in with 39 assists to lead the Buccaneers, while McKayla Simao finished with a team-high 21 digs.
Inesha Wiseman led Ripon (5-21, 3-5 MWC) with 22 kills, while Lydia Ellis finished with 14. Ellis also led the tem with four blocks, while Arynn Mathieu finished with a match-high four service aces. Riley Nielsen and Tayja Cornell led the Red Hawks in assists (39) and digs (22), respectively.
