BELOIT, Wis. - Beloit opened their 2022-23 conference schedule with a 79-63 loss to Lawrence University on Tuesday night. Lawrence shot 48 percent (28-58) from the field, including 53 percent (9-17) from 3-point range, while holding Beloit to 33 percent (19-57) shooting.

Beloit (3-4, 0-1 MWC) took an early 7-2 lead on a layup by T'Aira Boyance, but Lawrence ended the opening quarter on a 12-2 run to take a 14-9 lead into the second period. The Buccaneers were able to keep things close until mid-way through the quarter when Lawrence scored 13 consecutive points to break the game wide open. The Vikings would lead 39-24 at the half.

Lawrence (2-4, 1-0 MWC) continued to control the game in the second half, which saw them lead by double digits from start to finish, taking their largest lead of 27 on a pair of Josie Eager free throws in the final quarter. Lawrence scored 25 points off turnovers, while the Vikings bench outscored Beloit's reserves by a 36-7 margin.

Elizabeth Kalk recorded her second consecutive 20-point game for the Buccaneers, scoring a game-high 28 points, while pulling down 10 rebounds to complete the double-double. Addyson Ciochon added 12 points, while Hannah Welte scored nine.

Lawrence was led by Maggie Culver's 15 points, while Emma Carlson recorded a double-double of 14 points and 14 rebounds. Delaney Brooks added 11 points and six assists in 18 minutes off the bench.

Beloit will try to rebound on Saturday when they'll host Monmouth College. That game will begin at 1 p.m. at Flood Arena in Beloit, Wis.
