The Beloit College women's basketball team fell to Grinnell College 74-58 Thursday. The Buccaneers faced the Pioneers for the second time in three days as Thursday's contest was a reschedule from earlier this year.
Much like the game played in Flood Arena Tuesday, the game was a back-and-forth affair with Beloit taking the upper hand in the first quarter. With the Bucs jumping out to a quick lead, Grinnell narrowed the gap to one, 12-11 just over six minutes into the contest. Beloit ended the quarter on a 7-2 run to lead 19-13 after the first ten minutes of action.
The Pioneers flipped the script and outscored the Bucs 20-11 in the second to head into the halftime break with a 33-30 advantage.
On the other side of the break, the Bucs came out on top of a close third quarter to pull to within two, 50-48, heading into the final quarter.
Grinnell couldn't miss on their home floor in the final period of play shooting 73-percent from the floor, 75-percent from three-point range and 83-percent from the charity stripe. Meanwhile, the Bucs lost their touch, hitting just 25-percent of their shots from the field and going 0-5 from distance.
Elizabeth Kalk notched her third consecutive game with more than 20 points. She led Beloit with 21 adding three assists and five rebounds.
Addyson Ciochon tallied 11 points to join Kalk in double figures.
