The Beloit College track and field program hosted its first meet of the 2022 outdoor season Saturday afternoon at Strong Stadium. Both the men's and women's teams finished fifth in the event.
The men's 4x100 shined bright at the meet with Beloit's combination taking gold.
Ajani Joseph led off the relay followed by
Ahmasi Martin and
Desire Mukucha with
Brandon Joly serving as the anchor to cross the line in 43.87. The Bucs' combination of
Alexandre Atou,
Onix Diez, Joly and Mukucha in the 4x400 registered a time of 3:40.01 for third.
Individually, Joseph was clocked in 11.42 for third in the 100. Mukucha was sixth in the event for the final scoring slot adding to the team total. The top Buc in the 200 was Martin with a time of 23.44. Joly and Atou finished in fourth and fifth respectively led by Joly's 52.60 in the 400.
Aiden Cortinas added a tally to the team total crossing the line in 2:14.84 for sixth in the 800.
In the field events,
Genesis Solomon recorded a distance of 5.81 meters for fifth int he long jump.
Emiliano Reyes captured fourth in the shot put with a heave of 12.40 meters while also leading Beloit in the discus with a runner-up toss of 38.37 meters.
Lexy Olson had the top finish on the women's side. Cruising to a time of 13:07.28 in the 3,000 steeplechase, Olson took home silver. Teammate
Carter Browne was fourth in the event.
Hannah Welte added a bronze for Beloit with a time of 1:10.64 in the 400-hurdles.
Jordyn McDonald added points to the team total with a time of 12.60 in the 100, good for fourth. In the 200, T'Aira Boyance was the top Buccaneer to cross the line taking fifth with a clocking of 26.11.
Aspen Valentine added a pair of points to the team total with a fifth-place time of 5:20.90 in the 1500 while Madeleine Holicky was sixth with a time of 23:16.43 in the 5000.
In the field events,
Rose Loos-Austin was sixth with a height of 2.20 meters in the pole vault. Liz Kalk wrapped up the individual point-getters for Beloit with a sixth-place finish in the high jump with a leap of 1.45 meters.
The Beloit women took fourth in both relays. The combination of
Montana McMahon, Boyance, McDonald and
Alayna Furch were clocked in 50.64 in the 4x100 while Loos-Austin joined McDonald, McMahon and Furch for a time of 4:20.42 in the 4x400.
