A number of Buccaneers won their events as Beloit College competed in its final meet before the 2022 Midwest Conference Outdoor Track and Field Championships slated for May 13-14 in Beloit. The women's program finished second at a meet hosted by Ripon College Saturday while the men were third.
T'Aira Boyance continued to shine in the sprints Saturday. Her clocking of 25.27 in the 200 not only won the meet Saturday but also took over as the top time in the conference this season. Teammates
Jordyn McDonald and
Montana McMahon were third and sixth respectively in the event. Boyance was also tops in the 100 crossing the line in 12.36.
Darcel Royster also registered a top eight time in the event coming in sixth.
Alayna Furch posted a time of 1:02.50, a top ten time in the league, to finish second in the 400.
Marianna Carus and
Jade Mosquera were also top eight finishers in the event.
Hannah Welte cruised in her specialty, the 400 hurdles with a gold time of 1:12.41.
Other top finishers on the track included a pair of runner-up finishes for
Ajani Joseph. He was clocked in 11.31 in the 100 and 22.83 in the 200. Joseph led a contingent of five Bucs in the top eight in the 200 while teammate
Ahmasi Martin finished fifth in the 100.
Lexy Olson was the second athlete to cross the line in the 3000 steeplechase stopping the clock in 13:29.67.
Owen Eichfeld registered a time of 19:11.58 to finish fourth in the 5000. Welte added fourth-place points with her 400 hurdles time of 18.41.
Aiden Cortinas led a group of three Bucs to finish back-to-back-to-back with a fifth place finish in the 400 after crossing the line in 56.58.
Aspen Valentine added a fifth-place finish in the 800 with a clocking of 2:46.06 and
Azeez Ganiyu was sixth in the 110 hurdles crossing the line in 20.94.
Both of Beloit's 4x100 relay teams moved up in the league rankings. The women's squad ran the event in 49 flat to move up to second in the MWC while the men were clocked in 43.42, the third-fastest time in the MWC this season.
Emiliano Reyes and Liz Kalk led the field competitors Saturday. Reyes' heave of 38.46 meters in the discus was the top throw Saturday. He added a second-place finish in the hammer throw with a distance of 39.48. Teammate
Cooper Slatter added a top eight finish in the discus. Kalk recorded the top height in the high jump with a leap of 1.56 meters.
Alekzandria Taylor was sixth in the event.
Quinten Lottig was the runner-up in the men's high jump with a hight of 1.72 meters.
Rose Loos-Austin added a silver in the long jump with a distance of 4.45 meters while Royster was fourth in the event. Martin added a bronze in the event on the men's side with a long jump of 5.38 meters. Leeland Crum was the runner-up in the pole vault recording a height of 3.52 meters.
Hadja Bayo added fifth-place points with a toss of 29.92 in the discus and was sixth in the shot put with a heave of 9.95 meters.
Kiya Herrera was seventh and eighth in the discus and shot respectively.
