RIPON, Wis. - Beloit's women's soccer team opened their 2022 conference season in style Saturday afternoon with a 3-0 road victory at Ripon College. The Buccaneers out-shot the Red Hawks by a 22-5 margin, with 17 Beloit shots coming on goal.
Beloit (3-1-2, 1-0-0 MWC) got the scoring started in the 18th minute on
Midori Tanada's first goal of the season, thanks to an assist from
Megan Thompson, giving Beloit a 1-0 halftime lead.
Thompson added her first goal of the season in the opening minutes of the second half, before
Alayna Furch scored to cap the scoring in the 55th minute on an assist from
Aspen Valentine.
Audrey Ketterer preserved her second career complete game shutout (and second this season) for Beloit, recording three saves in the process. Britt Hable also played the entire game in goal for Ripon (1-6-2, 0-1-0 MWC), making 14 saves.
The Buccaneers will try to keep things rolling next Saturday when they'll be back at home against Knox College. That game will begin at 1:30 p.m. at Strong Stadium Soccer Complex in Beloit.
