BELOIT, Wis. - Beloit's volleyball team opened their 2022 season over the weekend by co-hosting the Wisconsin Blast Tournament, along with UW-Whitewater. Beloit finished the weekend with a 1-3 record, starting the year off right with a three-set victory against Finlandia (26-24, 25-20, 25-20).
In that victory, the Buccaneers were led by
Angela Donath's 13 kills, while
Cora Linos and
Katrina Sanchez added eight and five, respectively. Sanchez also led the team in both service aces (4) and digs (11), while
Abbie Schmidt's 15 assists led the team.
Beloit followed that up with a four-set loss to Simpson College on Friday night, before falling to Martin Luther and Wartburg in four and three sets, respectively, on Saturday.
The Buccaneers will try to get back on the winning track on Tuesday when they'll host UW-Platteville at 7 p.m. at Flood Arena in Beloit.
