BELOIT, Wis. - In a game that featured eight ties and eight lead changes, Beloit's women's basketball team lost to Grinnell College Tuesday night by a score of 57-50. Both teams shot 32 percent from the field, but Grinnell held a 46-34 rebounding edge, including 13-6 on the offensive glass.
Grinnell (7-9, 4-4 MWC) led 15-10 after one quarter of play, and 26-18 at the half. Beloit (6-11, 2-7 MWC) was only outscored by one point in the second half, but the Buccaneers could not overcome that first half deficit.
Beloit was led by
Elizabeth Kalk's 19 points and four rebounds, while
T'Aira Boyance added 14 points on 7-of-10 shooting, to go along with three steals.
Megan Thompson also chipped in with seven points and six rebounds off the bench.
Erin Lillis led Grinnell with 24 points and four rebounds. Sara Booher added six points and a game-high 12 boards, while Nikki Ware registered nine points and six rebounds.
Beloit will try to rebound on Saturday when they'll travel to Illinois College. That game will begin at 1 p.m. in Jacksonville, Ill.
