BELOIT, Wis. - Beloit's men's basketball team brought their season to a close Saturday afternoon with a 63-56 loss to Cornell College. The Buccaneers nearly erased a 14-point halftime deficit, but their comeback fell just short. Beloit shot 45 percent (24-53) from the field, but Cornell countered that by shooting 42 perecent (10-24) from 3-point range, including 70 percent (7-10) from behind the arc in the first half alone.
Beloit (7-18, 3-13 MWC) outscored the Rams (14-11, 12-4 MWC) in the paint by a 28-18 margin, while also outscoring their bench 27-12. Cornell led by as many as 16 points in the second half, but Beloit cut that lead to six on a
Clayton Jenny 3-pointer with one minute remaining. Cornell would convert three of four free throws in that final minute to seal the game.
Jabari Scuefield led Beloit with 12 points on 6-of-8 shooting, while also adding six rebounds and two assists.
Michael Myles added 12 points in 16 minutes off the bench, while
Semaj Roy added 11 points and seven rebounds in a reserve role.
Cornell was led by Jayden Meeker's 18 points, as he made both of his 3-point attempts. Jordan Magnani added 17 points on four 3-pointers, in addition to pulling down five rebounds.
