BELOIT, Wis. - Beloit's women's basketball team ended their 2022-23 season in style Saturday night, defeating Midwest Conference Tournament-bound Cornell College 59-57 in a game that featured eight ties and five lead changes. The Buccaneers made 37 percent (20-54) of their shots, including 44 percent (11-25) after halftime.

Beloit (8-17, 4-12 MWC) trailed 10-2 just minutes into the game and fell behind 14-8 at the end of the first quarter, before scoring 21 points in the second period to trail 31-29 at halftime after Elizabeth Kalk sank a jumper at the buzzer.

After outscoring the Buccaneers 20-14 in the third quarter, Cornell (10-13, 9-7 MWC) took an eight-point lead into the final quarter, which saw Beloit hold the Rams to just six points, while outscoring them 16-6 in that final frame. With the score tied at 56 with under 30 seconds to play, Kalk drove the lane and converted a layup to give the Buccaneers the lead for good.

Hannah Welte led Beloit with a game-high 22 points, which included a trio of 3-pointers. Kalk added 12 points, eight rebounds, and four assists, while playing all 40 minutes. Hadja Bayo also pulled down eight rebounds to lead the team, while also making two clutch baskets during the second half.

Cornell shot 36 percent (21-58) during the game. They were led by Madison Osborn's 17 points. Madison Wauters added eight points and a game-high 11 rebounds, while Rachael Adewusi scored 11 points off the bench.
