LAKE FOREST, Ill. - Beloit's softball team lost both games of a doubleheader at Lake Forest College on Saturday. The Buccaneers lost the first game 17-5 in five innings, before also losing the nightcap by a score of 8-1.
Lake Forest (21-12, 8-4 MWC) wasted no time, scoring five runs in the first inning and eight more in the second, before adding four in the third to take a 17-0 lead. Beloit (8-26, 0-12 MWC) got on the board with four runs in the fifth, scoring on an RBI single from
Isabel Johnson and a three-run homer to left field off the bat of
Sydney Harbison.
Kaylee Witte also drove in a run in the fifth to cap the scoring.
Beloit finished with four hits, with all but Harbison's going for a single. Lake Forest registered 13 hits, with six going for extra bases, including five doubles and a home run.Â
In the day's second game, Lake Forest again jumped on the board early with four runs in the bottom of the first, including a three-run homer to left center. The Foresters added two more runs in the third before Beloit got on the board in the top of the fourth on an RBI double by
Jocelyn Jordan. Lake Forest added a run in both the fourth and fifth innings to cap the scoring.
Beloit finished with three hits in the second game, with
Siddalee Meyers leading the way with a 2-for-3 effort at the plate. Lake Forest finished with 12 hits, with exactly half of those going for extra bases, including a pair of home runs.
