BELOIT, Wis. - Beloit's women's lacrosse team brought their 2023 season to a close Saturday afternoon with an 18-9 loss to Edgewood College. The Eagles also out-shot the Buccaneers by a 51-20 margin.
Beloit (3-8, 1-5 NACC) started the game off on the right foot, as a
Paige Airaudi goal gave the Bucs the first lead of the game. Edgewood (6-8, 3-3 NACC) then scored three consecutive goals, before
Johanna McNair added another score for Beloit. McNair would add another goal in the opening quarter after two more Edgewood goals, cutting the Eagles lead to 6-3 entering the second quarter. In that period, the Buccaneers closed the gap even more, as McNair scored two more goals in the first five minutes of the quarter. They would then tie the score at six on an unassisted goal by
Daisy Kleinhoffer. Edgewood would score twice more in the final eight minutes of the half to break the tie and take a two-goal lead into halftime.
Beloit continued to hang around in the second half, cutting the lead to one on a goal by
Olivia Farbarik just a minute and a half into the third quarter. Edgewood then scored six consecutive goals in the period until Farbarik added a second goal with just one minute remaining in the quarter. Beloit's only other goal came from McNair in the final quarter.
McNair led the Buccaneers with five goals, marking her fourth hat trick of the season. Farbarik added two goals and one assist. Edgewood was led by Emma Raupp's six goals, while Kendra Sanderfoot scored four times. Rachel Unitan scored two goals, while also recording a game-high four assists.
Sofia Jeddeloh faced 51 shots on the day as Beloit's goal keeper, making 25 saves, which is the second-highest single game total in program history. That gives her 184 saves on the season, which ties a school record. Alexis Vogt also played all 60 minutes in goal for Edgewood, making six saves.
