JACKSONVILLE, Ill. - This afternoon the Beloit College Softball team headed to Jacksonville, Ill. for a MWC double-header against the Illinois College Lady Blues. The Buccaneers (3-21, 0-6 MWC) held the Lady Blues to just five hits in game one. Despite the tough defense and pitching, the Lady Blues (11-16, 6-0 MWC) also held the Bucs to just two hits.
In game one,
Allison Olson (Sandwich, IL) and
Isabel Johnson (Austin, Texas) accounted for both Buccaneer hits.
Angela Donath (Wausau, Wis.) drew the only walk for Beloit. The Bucs put a base runner on in each of the first two innings thanks to errors by the Lady Blue defense, but were un able to move them any further than second base.
Kaylee Witte earned the start in the circle for Beloit. She pitched a complete game, giving up five hits and striking out one.
In game two, the Buccaneers doubled their hits from game one, totaling six hits. All six came from the middle of the order, the four, five and six slots.
Rachel Overocker (Tinley Park, IL) went 3-2 on the day, scoring the only run for Beloit.
Siddalee Meyers (Orfordville, Wis.) went 1-3 and Johnson continued her production from game one, going 3-3 and recording the only RBI of the game.
Beloit faces a quick turnaround when they head to Galesburg, Ill. tomorrow to face off against the Knox College Prairie Fire. First pitch for game one is set for 1 pm with game two starting around 3 pm.
