BELOIT, Wis. - The Beloit College Men's soccer team wrapped up opening weekend this afternoon when they hosted the Red Devils of Eureka College. The Red Devils (1-1-0, 0-0-0) defeated the Buccaneers (0-2-0, 0-0-0) 2-1 after scoring in the 8th and 64th minutes. The Buccaneers' lone goal came off the boot of
Israel Zewdie (Las Vegas, Nev.) in the 47th minute.
The Buccaneers were out shot 20(9) to 6(2) but defended the continuous attack of the Red Devils well. Beloit's first shot on goal came off the foot of
Julio Epting (Evanston, IL) in just the 17th minute.
Goalkeepers
David Staats (Meridian, ID) and
Ian Nelson (Sun Prairie, Wis.) split the time in the net, Staats tending the first half and Nelson the second. Staats made five saves while Nelson collected two.
The Bucs' head up the road on Tuesday, September 3rd for a match up with the Warhawks of UW-Whitewater. Kick off at Robert Fiskum Field is set for 7 pm.
