Hernandez's Hat-trick Keeps Men's Soccer Unbeaten in MWC Action

BELOIT, WI –  The Beloit College men's soccer team delivered a commanding performance against Lawrence University today at Strong Soccer Field, securing a decisive 3-0 victory. This win marks a significant milestone for the Buccaneers, as they now boast a perfect 2-0 record in conference play, their best start since the 2015 season.

The day belonged to the Buccaneers (5-5-2, 2-0 MWC), whose offensive power and defensive resilience proved too much for the Vikings (0-6-2, 0-2-0 MWC). Beloit's attack was spearheaded by an outstanding individual effort from Eziah Hernandez (New Mexico), who netted all three goals for a spectacular hat-trick. This remarkable achievement makes Hernandez the first Buccaneer to record a hat-trick since the 2023 season, reaffirming his offensive dominance for the Bucs.

Hernandez opened the scoring in the 32nd minute with an unassisted goal, giving Beloit a crucial lead. He continued his scoring spree just before halftime, finding the back of the net again in the 39th minute, this time assisted by Melvin Salazar (Higwood, IL), to put the Buccaneers up 2-0. The second half saw Hernandez complete his hat-trick in the 77th minute, with an assist from Max Wilson (Olympia, WA), sealing the 3-0 victory.

Beloit's defense was equally impressive, holding Lawrence scoreless throughout the match. Goalkeeper David Staats (Meridian, ID) was a formidable presence between the posts, making 10 saves to earn the clean sheet. The Buccaneers outshot the Vikings 17-9, with 9 shots on target compared to Lawrence's 6, showcasing their control of the game.

The Bucs will look to continue to ride this momentum on Saturday when they host the Prairie Fire of Knox College. Kick off from Strong Soccer Field is set for 3:30 pm.
