Volleyball Battles Prairie Fire

GALESBURG, Ill. - Beloit College faced a challenging road match against Knox, at Memorial Gym today, ultimately falling to the host team in four sets (25-27, 25-17, 22-25, 25-15). Despite the loss, the Buccaneers (2-15, 0-4 MWC) displayed moments of strong play and continued to show their fighting spirit. The Buccaneers demonstrated their potential, particularly in the sets they won, highlighting areas of strength and promising individual performances.

In a tightly contested first set, Beloit pushed the Prairie Fire (3-19, 1-1 MWC) to the brink, eventually losing 25-27. The Buccaneers showed resilience, with notable contributions across the board. The second set saw Beloit College emerge victorious with a dominant 25-17 performance, showcasing their ability to execute and control the pace of play. This set was a testament to their potential and ability to compete at a high level.

The third was another close affair, with Beloit battling hard before ultimately falling 22-25. The fourth and final set went to Knox, 25-15, securing their victory in the match.

Leading the charge for the Bucs was Selin Tufte (Clarkdale, Ariz.), who consistently delivered impactful plays throughout the match. She led the Bucs offensively with 12 kills and added a team-high 18 digs. Her presence on the court was a significant factor in the Buccaneers' offensive efforts. Maddisyn Adams (Stockett, MT) also showcased her skills, contributing crucial points and maintaining strong offensive and defensive play. Adams tallied 10 kills and 12 digs. The team's overall attack was evident in their successful sets, with moments of fluid play and effective hitting.

Defensively, Beloit made several key digs and blocks, demonstrating their commitment to challenging every ball. The team's ability to extend rallies and disrupt Knox's offense was a highlight.

The Bucs stay on the road for their next match, heading to Mount Vernon, Iowa for a match against the Cornell Rams. That match is set for 7 pm on Wednesday the 15th.
