GRINNELL, IA – In a thrilling contest at Springer Field this evening, Beloit College (6-6-4, 3-1-2 MWC secured a 1-1 draw against Grinnell (4-6-4, 3-1-1 MWC) in a match that kept fans on the edge of their seats until the final whistle. 

The first half was a tense affair, with both defenses holding strong. Beloit's goalkeeper, David Staats (Meridian, ID), was a formidable presence, making crucial saves to keep the Pioneers off the scoreboard. Despite being outshot 11-2 in the first period, the Buccaneer backline and Staats's heroics ensured the score remained 0-0 at halftime. This defensive grit laid the foundation for Beloit's second-half surge.

The second half ignited with renewed vigor from the Bucs. Just six minutes in, at 51:02, Beloit broke the deadlock. It was Rafael Cervantes Jr. (Dallas, TX) who found the back of the net, assisted by Evan Miranda (Grants Pass, Ore.), sending a clear message of Beloit's attacking intent. This pivotal goal gave Beloit a 1-0 lead and energized their play.
