Seo Shines with 24 Saves, but Men's Lacrosse Falls to Edgewood

VERONA, Wis. – Despite a standout performance in goal from Eric Seo, the Beloit College men's lacrosse team faced a tough offensive onslaught from Edgewood College, ultimately falling 23-6 on Wednesday night at Reddan Park.

The Buccaneers (4-11, 1-9 NACC) battled throughout the contest. While the Eagles (5-10, 4-7 NACC) controlled the pace for much of the game, Beloit showed flashes of offensive capability and resilience.

Liam Walker (Elmhurst, Ill.) and Will Palmer (Downers Grove, Ill.) led the scoring effort for Beloit, each finding the back of the net twice. Palmer also distributed the team's lone assist, finishing with a team-high three points on the night. He was active offensively, registering 10 shots, four of which were on goal.

Jordan Rice (Lynwood, Ill.) contributed a goal, converting on Beloit's only successful extra-man opportunity in the second period. Samuel Slabaugh (Lexington, Ky.) rounded out the scoring for the Buccaneers with one goal.

Defensively, the story for Beloit was goalkeeper Eric Seo (Woodridge, Ill.) The senior faced a relentless Edgewood attack, which fired off 78 total shots, 47 of them on goal. Seo stood tall against the barrage, making an impressive 24 saves throughout the 60 minutes of play.

Beloit collected 18 ground balls as a team, compared to Edgewood's 61. Keegan Heikila (West Salem, Ore.) led the Buccaneers with three ground balls, while Ryder Story (Salem, Ore.) and Isaac Guttormson (West Bend, Wis.) scooped up two each. Story, Parker Davis (Inver Grove Heights, MN), Alexander Klemp (Broomfield, Colo.), and Ethan Scutchfield (Lexington, Ky.)each recorded a caused turnover for the defense.

The faceoff X proved challenging, with Beloit winning 11 of the 32 draws. Samuel Van Der Kolk (Grand Haven, Mich.) took the majority, going 8-for-25, while Klemp went 3-for-7. Transitioning the ball also presented difficulties, as Beloit successfully cleared the ball on 14 of their 28 attempts. The team committed 24 turnovers during the game.

Beloit capitalized on one of their two extra-man chances, while the penalty summary showed three infractions for Beloit totaling three minutes, with Parker Davis accounting for all three penalties.

Edgewood jumped out to a 7-1 lead after the first quarter and maintained pressure throughout, scoring five in the second, four in the third, and another seven in the final period. Beloit scored twice in the second quarter (Palmer, Rice) and twice more in the third (Walker, Palmer), adding their final goal from Slabaugh late in the fourth.

The loss concludes the 2025 season for the Bucs. The team saw improvement in 2025, adding from their win total a season ago and putting together a 3-1 start to their season.
