Anderson, IN – The Beloit College Men's soccer team fell 4-0 to Anderson (IN) in a match held at Fridley Field earlier this afternoon. Despite a spirited effort, the Buccaneers (1-1-0, 0-0-0 MWC) were unable to find the back of the net, while Anderson's offense capitalized on their opportunities throughout the game.
From the outset, Anderson (1-1-0) controlled the pace, opening the scoring just 1:37 into the first half. The Ravens quickly added their second goal at the 24:09 mark, putting Beloit in a 2-0 deficit. The Buccaneers' goalkeeper, David Staats (Meridian, ID), was kept busy, making several crucial saves (3 in the first half and 6 overall) to prevent further damage.
The second half saw no relief for the Bucs, as Anderson extended their lead to 3-0 in the 46th minute. The Ravens' sealed the victory with their fourth goal at 55:46.
Beloit's offense struggled to generate consistent threats, managing 12 total shots throughout the match, with only 4 on target. Key attempts came from Israel Zewdie (Las Vegas, Nev.) and Rafael Cervantes Jr. (Dallas, TX), but Anderson's goalkeeper, Braydon Kennedy, and later Dylan Stegemoller, proved to be strong in goal, combining for 4 saves and securing a clean sheet.
Despite the loss, several Beloit players saw significant minutes, with Staats, Elijah Hartberg (Stoughton, Wis.), Evan Miranda, and Nicholas Williams (Fenton, MO), playing for all 90 minutes.
