Men's Soccer Falls to Tough UW-Whitewater Squad

BELOIT, WI – This afternoon at Strong Soccer Field, the Beloit College Buccaneers (2-3-2, 0-0-0 MWC) faced a challenging opponent in the UW-Whitewater Warhawks (4-1-0, 0-0-0 WIAC). Despite a determined effort and a strong defensive showing, the Buccaneers ultimately fell to the Warhawks with a final score of 2-0.

The game saw both teams vying for control, but it was Warhawks that managed to capitalize on their opportunities. The Warhawks opened the scoring in the first half at the 27:01 mark. Beloit's goalkeeper, David Staats (Meridian, ID), made a crucial save in the 20:58 minute, keeping the scoreline at 1-0 for much of the game.

The Buccaneer defense remained resilient throughout, with Staats making a total of 7 saves across the match, 3 in the first half and 4 in the second. The Buccaneers faced a barrage of 19 shots from the Warhawks, with 9 of those on target. Despite this pressure, Beloit held strong, limiting UWW to just two goals.

The Buccaneers had their own moments of attack, generating 5 total shots, with 3 on target. Early in the first half, Mamucha Munthali (Johannesburg) had a shot go wide right at 3:38, and Rafael Cervantes Jr. (Dallas, TX) also had a shot wide right at 5:42. In the second half, Eziah Hernandez (New Mexico) of Beloit had a shot saved by Whitewater's goalkeeper, Andres Comp, at 46:09. Hernandez later had a penalty kick missed at 60:47, which was also saved by Comp, highlighting Beloit's persistence in seeking an equalizer.

Whitewater secured their second goal in the 73rd minute, solidifying their lead.

The Bucs have a quick turnaround and will host the UW-Stout Blue Devils tomorrow afternoon. Kick off from Strong Soccer field is set for 4:30 pm
