BELOIT, Wis. - In a decisive victory, the Beloit College Volleyball team swept Moody Bible in a 3-0 match (25-22, 25-18, 25-18) at Flood Arena this evening.
The Buccaneers' (2-1, 0-0 MWC) offense was strong, particularly in the first set, with a .200 hitting percentage. Kyra Suiter-Meyers (Orfordville, Wis.), Naomi Murphy (Dubuque, Iowa) and Kierra Rayne Hoover (Albuquerque, New Mexico) consistently delivered kills throughout the match. Suiter-Meyers was also a force at the net, ending with 11.5 points from her 11 kills. Murphy and Hoover both added six kills.
The Buccaneers' serving game was also impactful, with several service aces contributing to their lead. Maddisyn Adams (Stockett, MT) and Kaylee Witte (Poplar Grove, Ill.)each had service aces in the match, putting pressure on Moody Bible's reception.
Moody Bible struggled to find their rhythm offensively, with their highest hitting percentage at .167 in the first set. Despite efforts from players like Kiarra Henkel, who had 8 points, and Olivia Clem, with 6 points, they were unable to overcome Beloit's consistent play.
Beloit's defense was solid, evident in their ability to limit Moody Bible's attack errors and maintain a strong reception percentage.
The Buccaneers return to action this weekend at Eureka College. They will face Rockford at noon on Saturday and Eureka at 2 p.m. the same day.
