BELOIT, Wis. - Beloit College left its dual meet against Carroll University with a win and a tie. The Buccaneer men pulled away for a 117–93 victory, and the women finished level with the Pioneers at 112–112 after 26 events.
Beloit's men controlled most of the evening, and Jeremy Mueller (Loves Park, Ill.) was the biggest reason. He won three individual events and swam on the winning 400 medley relay. In the 200 Free, he finished at 1:46.37, more than 15 seconds ahead of the next finisher. Before securing victory in the 200 Free, he touched the wall in 51.76 in the 100 Fly, nearly eight seconds clear of the field. Finally, leading off the 400 Medley Relay, he propelled his team to a first place finish with a time of 3:50.13, and a win over Carroll's 3:57.17, with Mueller joined by Joel Brown (Chicago, IL), Parker Zaucha (Onondaga, MI) and Abraham Benson (Bemidji, MN).
Zucha was the other major scorer. He won the 200 IM in 2:13.51, holding off Carroll's Gavin Buechel (2:15.68) by about two seconds. He then took the 500 Free in 5:15.41, finishing nearly half a minute ahead of Carroll's Mannon Stern.
Brown won the 100 Free in 52.38, ahead of Carroll's Luke Jordan (53.24). He also anchored a 200 free relay that finished second at 1:43.01.
Benson won the 100 Breaststroke in 1:06.30. He also took second in the 50 Free at 25.50 and swam the medley relay.
Torin Schott (Fairfield, CT) added points for Beloit with a third in the 50 Free (25.15) and a second in the 100 Breast (1:11.83).
Beloit swept the top spots on the men's 1-meter board in both rounds. Jacob Fuller (Beloit, Wis.) won with 198.40 and then 134.05, and Matthew McCoy (Sedalia, MO) finished second in the second round (120.05) and took second in the first with 160.80, which gave Beloit a heavy points advantage in diving.
Carroll did get strong results of its own, including Mannon Stern's win in the 1000 Free (11:52.61), Jonah Lotegeluaki's win in the 50 Free (23.49) and Thomas Rynne's win in the 100 Back (1:01.77). The Pioneers also won the closing 200 free relay in 1:38.97. It wasn't enough to catch the Buccaneers.
The Beloit women stayed with a deep Carroll squad all night and tied it at 112 points each.
Lydia Nordgren (South Beloit, Ill.) led the way with two individual wins and a spot on the winning medley relay. In the 50 Free, she touched the wall at 26.17, ahead of Carroll's Abigail Ziegler (28.11). In a razor thin 100 Free, she finished at 58.27, 0.10 ahead of teammate Hanna Logan (Gorham, ME) (58.37), giving Beloit a 1-2 finish. In the 400 Medley Relay Nordgren and Beloit's A team won in 4:19.49, nearly 17 seconds ahead of Carroll's A relay.
Logan won the 200 IM in 2:16.97, more than 12 seconds ahead of the field, and went 1-2 with Nordgren in the 100 Free. She also swam on the winning medley relay.
Lylah Murrah (North Pole, AK) won the 100 Fly in 1:09.39, edging Carroll's Mia Petersen by 0.45. She also took second in the 500 Free (6:10.33).

Elsa Gregory swept the women's 1-meter diving, winning with 197.00 and then 162.45, a big source of points for Beloit.
