GRINNELL, Iowa – The Beloit College swimming and diving teams continued their postseason push this evening at the 2026 Midwest Conference Championships. Competing at the Grinnell College Natatorium, the Buccaneers saw several standout performances, highlighted by a podium finish in the Men's 200 Yard IM and strong showings in the diving well.
Junior Jeremy Mueller (Loves Park, Ill.) provided the highlight of the night for the Buccaneer men. Competing in the "A" Final of the Men's 200 Yard IM, Mueller touched the wall in 1:53.74 to secure a second-place finish.
Mueller also proved vital to the relay efforts, leading off the Men's 200 Yard Freestyle Relay. The team, consisting of Mueller, Torin Schott (Fairfield, CT), Jordan Hodges (College Station, TX), and Liam Murphy (Minneapolis, Minn.), finished in seventh place with a time of 1:34.99.
On the women's side, sophomore Lydia Nordgren (South Beloit, Ill.) delivered a blistering performance in the Women's 50 Yard Freestyle. Nordgren clocked a 24.73 to take sixth place overall in the "A" Final.
Nordgren later anchored the Women's 200 Yard Freestyle Relay, joining teammates Amelia Pullen (New Orleans, La.), Lucy Monnig (Beaverton, Ore.), and Lylah Murrah (North Pole, AK). The quartet finished with a time of 1:46.18.
Beloit's divers were equally impressive, securing sixth-place finishes in both the men's and women's events. In the Women's 3-meter diving, Elsa Gregory posted a final score of 322.85. In the Men's 1-meter Diving, Jacob Fuller (Beloit, Wis.) mirrored that success, finishing sixth with a score of 311.30.
Several other Buccaneers battled through the Friday finals to contribute to the team's overall score. Murrah competed in the "B" Final of the Women's 200 Yard IM, finishing with a time of 2:21.74. Kelsey Gerstler represented Beloit in the Women's 500 Yard Freestyle, recording a time of 5:37.74.
Following the conclusion of the Friday events, the Beloit College women sit in 7th place with 116 points, while the men also hold the 7th spot with 90 points. The Buccaneers will look to climb the leaderboard as the championships continue through the weekend.
Action continues on Saturday at 10:00 a.m. with preliminary rounds for the 400 individual medley, 100 butterfly, 200 freestyle, 100 breaststroke, 100 backstroke, 400 medley relay, men's 3-meter diving and women's 1-meter diving. Final rounds begin at 5:30 p.m.
