BELOIT, WI – In a game that defined "grit," the Beloit College Buccaneers (5-16,0-12 MWC) turned Flood Arena into a pressure cooker this evening, pushing the high-flying Lake Forest Foresters (14-7,9-3 MWC) to the absolute limit. Though the final score favored the visitors 98-92, the story of the night was the resurgence and resilience of a Beloit squad that refused to back down, forcing an overtime period in one of the most competitive matchups of the 2025-26 season.
Beloit's offensive effort was spearheaded by a balanced attack that saw four players reach double figures. Thomas Glenn (Waukesha, Wis.) was the engine for the Buccaneers, finishing with a team-high 20 points and 6 rebounds. Glenn was lethal from beyond the arc, shooting 4-of-6 from deep, providing the spacing Beloit needed to break down the Forester defense.
Joining him in the backcourt was floor general Anthony Carter (Greenfield, Wis.), who flirted with a double-double. Carter finished with 19 points and a staggering 9 assists, showcasing his ability to both create his own shot and find open teammates under pressure. Down low, Dae'Quan Davis (Chicago, Ill.) was a force, racking up 16 points and leading the team with 8 rebounds, while Austin Walker (Princeville, Ill.) chipped in a solid 10 points.
Trailing 40-37 at the half, Beloit emerged from the locker room with a renewed sense of urgency. The momentum shifted early in the second period when Davis buried a three-pointer at the 19:45 mark to tie the game at 40-40. This spark ignited the Flood Arena crowd and set the stage for a back-and-forth battle that saw 12 lead changes and 14 ties.
The Buccaneers' biggest momentum swing occurred in the final minutes of regulation. Trailing 82-80 with the clock winding down, Beloit's defense tightened, forcing Lake Forest into difficult shots. With just 12 seconds remaining, Davis drew a foul and calmly stepped to the line. He sank both free throws under immense pressure to tie the game at 82-82, effectively erasing the Foresters' late-game lead and forcing the extra five-minute period.
Beloit actually struck first in the overtime session. Carter drained a massive three-pointer at the 4:05 mark to give the Buccaneers an 85-84 lead, sending the home bench into a frenzy. However, Lake Forest's depth and interior scoring—led by Cristian Rodriguez and Alex Forowycz—eventually proved too much. The Foresters outscored Beloit 16-10 in the final period, largely due to their ability to capitalize on second-chance points and transition layups.
Despite the outcome, Beloit's stat sheet showed a team playing at a high level. The Buccaneers were white-hot from three-point range, shooting a blistering 50% (13-of-26) as a team. They also showed great discipline with the ball, recording 22 assists on 32 made field goals and committing only 5 turnovers the entire game.
The Buccaneers are back in action on the road this weekend at Knox College. Tip off between the Bucs and Rams is set for 1 pm from Memorial Gymnasium.
